Txter Terms of Service
Effective Date: February 1, 2026 | Last Updated: April 16, 2026
Txter is a decentralized mesh messaging app. By using it, you agree to participate in a peer-to-peer relay network, use the app lawfully, and accept that it is provided as-is without warranty.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using Txter (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Txter is a decentralized, peer-to-peer mesh messaging application that enables device-to-device communication using BLE and Wi-Fi without requiring internet connectivity or centralized servers.
- Messages are transmitted through a multi-hop mesh relay network.
- All messages are end-to-end encrypted using Ed25519 keys.
- No accounts, phone numbers, or personal information required.
- No centralized servers for message delivery.
3. Mesh Relay Participation
Important: By using Txter, your device may relay encrypted messages from other users to extend mesh coverage. This is a core feature, not a side effect.
- Your device will automatically forward encrypted messages between other mesh participants.
- You cannot read, intercept, or modify relayed messages — they are encrypted end-to-end.
- Relaying consumes a small amount of battery. Txter adapts based on battery level.
- You may disable mesh participation by closing the App or disabling background service.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Txter only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Transmit illegal, threatening, abusive, or defamatory content.
- Attempt to intercept, decrypt, or tamper with messages not intended for you.
- Disrupt, overload, or impair the mesh network.
- Reverse-engineer cryptographic protocols to compromise others' privacy.
- Distribute malware through the mesh network.
- Impersonate another person or forge identities.
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
5. Network Administration
Txter includes a cryptographically secured administration protocol. All commands are signed, time-bounded, rate-limited, and logged locally. High-risk operations require dual-key authorization.
6. User Identity and Data
Your identity is a cryptographic key pair generated locally. You are responsible for safeguarding your device. If lost or wiped, your identity and messages cannot be recovered.
See our Privacy Policy for complete data handling details.
7. App Distribution and Updates
Txter is distributed through the Google Play Store and is subject to Google's terms. Updates are delivered through Google Play.
8. Intellectual Property
Txter and all associated source code, designs, and documentation are proprietary software owned by the Txter project. All rights are reserved. The Txter name, logo, and branding are property of the Txter project and may not be used without prior written permission.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant uninterrupted service, message delivery within any timeframe, or vulnerability-free cryptography.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TXTER PROJECT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify the Txter project from any claims arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
12. Termination
Uninstall the App at any time to stop using Txter. Administrators may quarantine compromised nodes via signed commands.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
14. Severability
If any provision is found unenforceable, it shall be limited to the minimum extent necessary; remaining provisions stay in full effect.
15. Changes to These Terms
Changes reflected in the “Last Updated” date. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
